One of the most intense, emotional journeys a person can take in life is the one that follows the decision to pursue adoption. There’s nothing else quite like it. There are numerous paths that can take someone to parenthood through adoption, many different ways to create a family, and no two journeys are alike. What is alike in all of those journeys is the desire to love a child.
There’s so much that goes into reaching that adoption day at the courthouse though. The adoption journey itself is a rough excursion. It’s the rollercoaster for which you can spend countless days, weeks, months, even years preparing, yet strapping in for the ride still leaves you feeling nothing more than the pit at the bottom of your stomach… you’re completely unprepared after all.
So, what do you do?
You find your ONE TINY EMBER of faith, the flicker of hope that never goes out despite whatever darkness lingers around you. This one tiny ember is what will carry you through your journey. It will also carry you through parenthood, when you question what you’re doing and wonder if every decision you make is enough.

Hello, my name is Taylor, and my journey to motherhood took almost three years. I experienced an emotional whirlwind during that time. In August 2022, I was beyond blessed when my daughter’s birth mother chose me to become her baby’s mom. Just over a month later, my daughter was born and my entire world changed forever.

I want to share my experiences and connect with the adoptive community.
Being single greatly impacted that long road to motherhood for me. I’ve reflected a lot on the opportunities that both presented and closed themselves off to me because of my marital status. I want to share those reflections and discuss the adoption journey overall. By discussing my path to parenthood, I hope to make your adoption journey a little easier, whether you’re single or married. Plus, I hope stories of parenthood will help me connect with other adoptive parents as well.
